Thought this International Business Times article was interesting, and I can certainly relate to its findings.
The main points of the article:
• We’re less likely to remember stuff if we know we can find it online.
• We’re starting to prioritize remembering how to get to information online rather than trying to remember the information itself.
I look stuff up on my iPhone all the time. On the other hand, I’m a complete moron when the battery runs out.
The bigger issue, however, is that education needs to adapt to this. It’s more important that we help kids search for and evaluate information rather than to remember facts.
